A little over ten years ago, Race Street Pier was moments from my family's front doorstep. The skyline of the city framed the background and the din of traffic on the Ben Franklin Bridge was music to our ears. The familiar story followed. I got pregnant with my second child and our picturesque warehouse walk-up wasn't going to work anymore. Space was at a premium and paper thin walls meant frustrated neighbors. Yes. We absolutely could have stayed in the city, but, to be honest, we weren't as clear on what we wanted at the time and felt the 'burbs was a natural next step. What ensued was a year and half of renting followed by nearly 7 years in our current home.
